These breakdowns from Rener Gracie are usually pretty good but I found this one in particular to be especially informative. Perhaps that’s because I’m starting to get into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu now though so I have a greater appreciation for the techniques.

I really enjoyed listening to him explain how GSP does such a good job passing the three quarter guard and stepping over into half guard, then transitioning into side mount.

When you’re watching the fight at full speed, it’s difficult to pick up on these fine details (unless you’re as experienced as say Joe Rogan who does a good job breaking things down for the audience).

I’m about to head to BJJ class and I’m hoping I get the opportunity to try this out tonight. Oh, and watching that breakdown lead me to a video of Rener sparring with a purple belt at his academy with his hands tied (seen below)..
