Not surprisingly, Alistair Overeem blew through the competition and won the 2010 K-1 World Grand Prix title last night. He now has both the K-1 title and the Strikeforce title – a feat which until now, hasn’t been accomplished.
Nobody has simultaneously held heavyweight championships in two world class organizations before, so last night, Overeem made history. I personally think that if he was under contact with the UFC, he’d win that title as well.. Although Cain’s wrestling ability might give him some trouble.
Anyway, it looks like the hard training camp (which included some training in Thailand) really paid off. It would have been nice to see Overeem vs. Schilt in the final though, but surprisingly, Peter Aerts beat him in the semi’s. Here’s the path of destruction that lead Overeem to the title..
