Heading to Thailand in January
« on: November 29, 2010, 10:07:28 PM »
So I finally booked my flight to Thailand and will be heading there January 10 of the new year - words can't explain how I'm feeling. To think that I'll be training Muay Thai where the discipline originated and is continuously evolving is surreal to say the least. There are so many things to look forward to I can't even begin to list them... but I'll try to anyways:

The training itself is going to be eye opening. I've trained in boxing for about 5 years and have participated in some Muay Thai, BJJ and MMA in the past 8 months so I feel comfortable throwing my hands and my legs somewhat - that being said, I can't begin to think about how improved as a fighter I will be after the instruction from experts in Muay Thai.

The weather is going to be uplifting - being from New York and hating winter in the recent years, it'll be nice to finally skip the whole cold, dreary part of the year and live in a tropical climate while my friends are digging out their driveways.

The women seem to be a nice perk for traveling to Thailand. That being said, I'm coming to Thailand to train and improve my skills - but being a handsome foreigner with little self restraint when it comes to women, I see there being some distractions.

The food should be a change of pace from my daily eating routines. I'm not the biggest spicy food fan, but I am a fan of trying new foods and being able to pay a lot less than I do here in the US.

And lastly I think I'm most excited to just get out of where I am right now and be somewhere completely different. The culture of the US is wearing me down - there's too much materialism and negativity, there's too many people complaining and wanting more of something all the time.  This atmosphere has been demotivating me to do anything with my life... finally I'll be able to shake it up.

I happened to win some money playing poker so I have the opportunity to train in Thailand and hopefully Brazil afterwards. I'm going to be keeping a journal every day of my training to help me concentrate on what I'm there to do, which is to improve my skills as much as possible and get my head straight - hopefully it'll be interesting enough for people to read. Also if there's any questions about Thailand, Muay Thai or anything in general I can try to the best of my abilities to help - but chances are I'm going to be learning everything throughout my trip.

By the way, Fightpassport is a great website and you do a great job with it all - it really helped inspire me to go through with it all so I thank you for that. I'll keep in touch
