Not that you'd actually wanna work on the beach (too much sand and poor screen visibility)... but you get the idea.

If you’re tired (literally) of waking up to the sound of an alarm clock and dragging yourself out of bed and to a job that you’re not passionate about..then keep reading.

This article is about how you can escape the alarm clocks and the traffic, while reclaiming your freedom and spending more time doing the things you love (more travel and training, perhaps?).

I, like most people, was once in the redundant cycle of selling my life away an hour at a time. I’d work for 8 hours, get paid for 8 hours, and beyond that, I wouldn’t have anything else to show for the time I had invested (this is especially true if you’re not doing something you enjoy).

Not only that, but having a boss to answer too and pre-determined work hours meant that I wasn’t really “free”.

Obviously, having the ability to do the things you want, exactly when you want to do them, is a huge contributing factor to your overall happiness and well being.

I personally started looking for a solution about 10 years ago when I attempted to move to Vegas (I’m originally from Ottawa, Canada). I was into Texas hold em’ poker at the time and was bored with my home city.

Vegas was vibrant, exciting and stacked with hot girls. I didn’t want to leave! Every Sunday afternoon I used to go to a pool party at the Hard Rock hotel called “Rehab”, which I found particularly motivating.

Surrounded by pro fighters, hot girls, musicians, actors and business tycoons; being at "Rehab" in Vegas will motivate you to step your game up..

Being in that environment, surrounded by millionaires, celebrities and as I mentioned, an abundance of hot girls in revealing swimwear, made me want to elevate my status.

Basically, instead of being a random guy that just blended into the crowd, mainly observing things.. I wanted to be one of the guys drinking the grey goose in the private, $1000+ dollar per afternoon cabanas that the girls were flocking too.

Today, I don’t care at all for that material nonsense. The “VIP” sections, the overpriced liquor and the lazy, mindless gold-diggers; I could do without any them. It’s all meaningless and no longer appealing to me whatsoever.

At the time though, wanting that kind of lifestyle lit a spark and lead me to start researching..

  1. How I could generate an income from anywhere in the world
  2. What type of careers/businesses provided a high income potential, yet still allowed for the freedom to travel

My research got kicked into overdrive when I took some really “bad beats” at the poker table that put a major dent in my savings account, leading me to head home earlier than originally planned.

In a last ditch effort to stay, I attempted promoting timeshares on Las Vegas Blvd, and even inquired about getting a job handing out “prostitute flyers”, alongside the Mexicans, to tourists along the strip.

Had I got the job, it wouldn't have been my proudest moment..

Needless to say, neither of those gigs were successful and I ended up back in Ottawa trying to figure things out.

I later determined that the internet was the key to a location-independent lifestyle and began the long process of creating a fitness website. Looking back on it, knowing what I know now, I made so many obvious mistakes.

I overpaid the web designers, I picked a niche that was way too broad, I didn’t know anything about keyword research or optimizing my site to rank well in the search engines, I bought useless traffic that most likely came from bots and not real people – it was a disaster.

I could have given up then, but if I had, my lifestyle would be a lot different than it is today.

Not saying that it would be worse, but I doubt I would be able to claim that I can work from my bed in my boxer shorts, or that I haven’t seen a drop of snow since the last time I visited home for Christmas about 5 years ago.

What turned things around for me at the time was the discovery of a subscription based internet marketing course that really laid things out, step by step, in a way that a complete beginner could understand.

Through that course, as well as a couple forums, I learned all about affiliate marketing, keyword research, setting up quick websites, and identifying “untapped” niches I could get into that didn’t have a lot of competition.

If you’re a beginner and you don’t know about any of the stuff I’m talking about (and you want to learn), I’d suggest you click this link and sign up because it will walk you through all the basics.

It’s one of the most respected, beginner-friendly courses on the market right now and they have 30 day refund policy if you don’t think it’s a good fit for you.

Anyway, I’ve been at this for about 10 years now.

I’ve had a lot of ups and downs, and my income (like anyone else who works for themselves) can fluctuate quite a bit. I can go days without earning anything at all, or I can wake up to discover that I earned over 1000 dollars while I was sleeping.

This sort of unpredictability can be stressful, but luckily, the freedom you would obtain from running a web based business would allow you to spend a lot of time in beautiful countries that conveniently have a low cost of living.

I spend a lot of my time in Thailand (read my training journal here), which suits my interests of beaches, coconuts, Muay Thai and Asian girls quite nicely. For you, maybe Brazil is the spot – where your days could consist of surfing, Jiu Jitsu, beaches and big booties.

Brazil, Thailand, Philippines maybe? When you can work anywhere in the world with a MacBook and an internet connection, you can go anywhere you want!

Regardless of where you pick to spend your time (maybe you want to stay exactly where you are), your ticket to freedom and stress free living may very well be internet marketing.

In the pages to follow, I’ll outline a few of the methods that can be used (many of which I’ve used personally) to generate an income while traveling, training and basically just living a boss-free, laid back lifestyle.
